Brigade Communications Officer Camp Shelby, MSAug 10-Jul 12

Responsible for the tactical and garrison communications for the brigade headquarters and nine subordinate battalions providing support to over 600 users. Provided technical advice on communications, information management, and Communications Security (COMSEC) to the commander.  Maintained and accounted for $450,000 worth of communications equipment including Video Teleconferences, tactical radios, and network switches. 

·   Oversaw the installation and upgrade of the fiber optic network establishing the United States Army Reserve network operations for the brigade that provided over 600 users voice and data communications; operates five VTC suites and coordinates conferences through AT&T and DISA.

·   Supervised the communications portion of the unit realignment between two brigades ensuring a seamless transition of outlook accounts and file sharing with zero downtime to services.

·   Coordinated Motorola repeater installation for brigade headquarters to extend communications capability for over 100 portable radio end users.  Served as head liaison with various agencies (state J6, post communications officer, range control, Motorola, etc) to acquire approved frequencies, dig permits, scopes of work, and cost estimates for project.

·   Effectively managed the drawdown of 300 mobile devices saving the unit over $8K in a two-month period.

 

Division Network Operations Officer FOB Liberty, Iraq/Ft Hood, TXJan 09 - Jul 10

Responsible for the communications architecture, management, and monitoring of a network consisting of a division headquarters and seven brigades consisting of over 10,000 users. Responsible for the fielding, training and implementation plan of military and commercial equipment. Supervised the professional development of nine Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers.

·   Successfully provided full spectrum voice and data (secure and non secure) services from large Forward Operating Bases of 3,000 Soldiers and civilians to company sized Joint Security Stations of 35 Soldiers and civilians; earned best captain rating in a section of 12 captains.

·   Integrated newly fielded Harris 7800W line of sight radios into communications architecture to support Joint Security Stations (JSSs) and Company Outposts (COPs).
